Street actions and graffiti for World Anti-Trafficking Day, July 30th / Ulične akcije i grafiti u susret Svetskom danu borbe protiv trgovine ljudima, 30. julu

World Anti-Trafficking Day 30th July The Women’s Forum of Prijepolje, a member of the Anti-trafficking Network, will mark on Monday, with street action, like other 8 organizations from this network. This significant date will be also marked by a non-governmental organization devoted to the eradication of all forms of trafficking in human beings and the exploitation of ASTRA, which will therefore carry out the campaign of graphic painting with preventive messages against trafficking in human beings in three cities – Cacak, Gornji Milanovac and Kraljevo.

The “Liberation of Freedom” campaign aims to draw public attention to the fact that human trafficking takes place in Serbia, that our fellow citizens are exploited and that traffickers know the needs of the people who recruit for exploitation and profit. Thanks to preventive graffiti, citizens will be able to recognize risky situations and know how to avoid them.

According to ASTRA, the dominant form of trafficking in human beings is sexual exploitation, to which women and girls are exposed, and the number of business offers that our citizens can lead to labor exploitation, which are more susceptible to men, is also on the increase. It is especially emphasized that anyone can be a victim, but also a trader, even our closest.

Rafts officially recognize about 50 victims of human trafficking in the social welfare system, but it is estimated that the gray number of victims is much higher. According to official data, for the first six months of 2018, 28 victims of human trafficking were identified. Since the start of the ASTRA SOS phone for victims of human trafficking, 35 000 calls have been received and assistance has been provided for 502 victims of trafficking. ASTRA SOS phone has a preventive function, so all those who have dilemmas regarding a business offer can check it by dialing the free number 0800 101 201 or +381 11 785 0000.
