Kosovo is on the path to establishing an integrated database for cases of domestic violence

On March 14, 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding for the Integrated Database for cases of Domestic Violence was signed.

This memorandum was signed between the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, the Kosovo Judicial Council, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council and the Kosovo Police.

This integrated database will enable monitoring and prosecution of domestic violence cases in Kosovo, but above all will also increase accountability for cases of violence.

The creation of this database was made possible by the regional project ” Changing minds, implementing norms: Ending Violence Against Women”, implemented by UN Women, financed by European Union.

UN Women continues to support the work of all actors, including municipal coordination mechanisms across Kosovo, the police, and the judiciary to protect everyone, especially women and girls, from human rights violations in the form of domestic violence and gender-based violence.
