GREVIO Komitesi’ne seçilecek uzmanlar bağımsız ve tarafsız olmalıdır! – The experts chosen to GREVIO should be independent and impartial!
İstanbul Sözleşmesi Türkiye İzleme Platformu, 109 bağımsız kadın ve LGBTİ+ örgütünün imzasıyla hazırlanan çağrı metnini İstanbul Sözleşmesi Taraflar Komitesi üyelerine gönderdi. Platform, “GREVIO Komitesi’ne seçilecek uzmanlar bağımsız ve tarafsız olmalıdır!” başlıklı çağrı metninde GREVIO komitesinin 10 yeni üyesinin seçileceği 1 Nisan 2019’da yapılacak toplantıda üye seçiminde tarafsızlık ve bağımsızlık ilkelerine özen gösterilmesini talep etti.
Çağrı, İstanbul Sözleşmesinin geliştirilmesi ve onaylanması süreçlerinde yer alan Platform üyesi bağımsız kadın ve LGBTİ+ örgütlerine, Türkiye’nin GREVIO adayının belirlenmesi sürecinde hiçbir aşamada danışılmadığını vurguladı. Çağrıda ayrıca şeffaf olarak yürütülmeyen bu süreçte son 17 yıldır iktidardaki siyasi parti içerisinde bakan yardımcılığı da dahil çeşitli görevlerde yer almış birinin aday gösterildiğinin basıl yoluyla öğrenildiği belirtildi.
“Hükümetten bağımsız ve tarafsız olma” gibi temel adaylık kriterleriyle çelişen bu duruma tepkisini vurgulayan İstanbul Sözleşmesi Türkiye İzleme Platformu, 25 Aralık 2018’de Türkiye’deki yetkililere bağımsız kadın ve LGBTİ+ örgütlerinin GREVIO adayının şu anda GREVIO Başkanlığını yürütmekte olan Prof. Feride Acar olduğunu belirten bir mektup iletmişti.
Istanbul Convention Monitoring Platform-Turkey sent a call titled “The experts chosen to GREVIO should be independent and impartial!” to the Committee of the Parties of the Istanbul Convention. The call which is signed by 109 independent women’s and LGBTI+ organizations demanded that the principles of independence and impartiality should be essential in the selection of the 10 new members of the GREVIO Committee, which will take place on April 1, 2019.
The call underlined that the independent women’s and LGBTI+ organizations forming the Platform, which have been involved in the development and ratification processes of the Istanbul Convention, have not been consulted at any point in the determination of Turkey’s candidate for GREVIO. The call also noted that during this nontransparent process, it has been learned through the press that the government had submitted the candidacy of a person who had been in bureaucratic positions, including deputy minister, in the political party that has been ruling for the past 17 years.
The Platform had previously submitted a letter to the authorities in Turkey on December 25, 2018, stating that the women’s and LGBTI+ organizations’ candidate for GREVIO is Prof. Feride Acar, who is currently the President of GREVIO.
