Bosnia and Herzegovina: Enhancing Capacities of Professionals to Assist Women Survivors of Violence/Bosna i Hercegovina: Osnaživanje kapaciteta profesionalaca za podršku ženama koje su preživjele nasilje

26 September 2018 – In the period 20-22 September, 2018 in Neum (Bosnia and Herzegovina) three-day workshop was held for women and men representatives of public institutions, subjects of protection that are signatories of the Protocol on Cooperation in Cases of Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence in Brčko District B&H (BD). Participants were women and men representatives of the BD Police, BD Public Prosecutor’s Office, BD Department for Health and Other Services – Sub-department for Social Protection, BD Center for Mental Health, Association of Active Women Gender BD, and Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bijeljina.

Aleksandar Radan, District Public Prosecutor from Bijeljina presented experiences of the prosecutors in work on cases of violence against women and domestic violence, and pointed at importance of the urgent protection measures aimed for support women victims of violence. Aida Cipurković Musačević, a therapist from the Vive Žene Tuzla worked with the participants on prevention of burn out, and building personal capacities for work with women victims of gender based violence. Natalija Petrić, an expert for the issue of violence against women worked with the participants on finaliying the BD Local Action Plan for Activities of Subjects of Protection from Violence.

Through discussions, participants emphasized the need for additional education of subjects of protection about newly adopted BD Law on Protection from Domestic Violence, with special focus on training of police officers that have the possibility to initiate urgent protection measures. Participants also said that number of reported cases of violence against women significantly increased since intensifying activities directed toward raising public awareness on the issue of domestic violence and violence against women.

The workshop was organized as a part of the project “Strengthening Prevention and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence in Brčko District B&H“ implemented by the Foundation United Women Banja Luka and the Citizens’ Association Vive Žene Tuzla, as a part of the UN Women Program „Standards and Engagement for Prevention of Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina“, financially supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

26. septembar 2018. godine – Od 20. do 22. septembra u Neumu (Bosna i Hercegovina) održana je trodnevna radionica za subjekte zaštite potpisike/ce Protokola o saradnji i postupanju u slučajevima nasilja prema ženama i nasilja u porodici u Brčko distriktu BiH. Na radionici su prisustvovali predstavnici i predstavnice Policije Brčko distrikta, Tužilaštva Brčko distrikta BiH, Odjeljenja za zdravstvo i ostale usluge – Pododjeljenja za socijalnu zaštitu, Centra za mentalno zdravlje, Udruženja aktivnih žena GENDER iz Brčkog i Okružnog javnog tužilaštva iz Bijejine.

Aleksandar Radan, okružni javni tužilac iz Bijeljine je predstavio iskustva tužilaca u radu na slučajevima nasilja prema ženama i nasilja u porodici i ukazao na važnost izricanja hitnih mjera zaštite u cilju podrške ženama žrtvama nasilja. Aida Cipurković Musačević, terapeutkinja iz Udruženja građana je sa učesnicima/cama radila na prevenciji sagorijevanja te jačanju ličnih kapaciteta za rad sa ženama žrtvama rodno zasnovanog nasilja. Natalija Petrić, ekspertica za pitanja nasilja prema ženama je sa učesnicima/cama radionice radila na finaliziranju Lokalnog plana aktivnosti subjekata zaštite od nasilja za Brčko distrikt BiH.

Učesnici/ce su kroz diskusiju istakli potrebu za dodatnom edukacijom subjekata zaštite u primjeni novousvojenog Zakona o zaštiti od nasilja u porodici u Brčko distriktu BiH, sa posebnim fokusom na obuku policijskih službenika koji imaju mogućnost da predlažu izricanje hitnih mjera zaštite. Učesnici/ce radionice su takođe istakli da je broj prijava žena žrtava nasilja značajno povećan od kada su intenzivnije aktivnosti usmjerene na podizanje javne svijesti o problemu nasilja u porodici i nasilja prema ženama.

Radionica je realizovana u okviru projekta „Osnaživanje prevencije i borbe protiv nasilja prema ženama i nasilja u porodici u Brčko Distriktu BiH“ koji provode Fondacija Udružene žene Banja Luka i Udruženje građana Vive žene Tuzla, u okviru UN Women projekta „Standardi i angažman za sprečavanje nasilja nad ženama i nasilja u porodici u Bosni i Hercegovini“ koji finansijski podržava Švedska agencija za međunarodni razvoj i saradnju (SIDA).
